Sunday Sharing - The Haley Vincent Foundation

This Sunday, I want to share The Haley Vincent Foundation with you.  I never had the pleasure of meeting this amazing little girl.  I have had the pleasure of hearing her voice.  The first time I heard her voice was on the drive home after one of my daughter's many hospital visits.  She must have been about 6 months old.  I had a visit from this amazing woman in our hospital room.  I will never forget her huge smile and warmth.  She came into our hospital room and met our family holding this beautiful gift basket.  The basket was filled with practical items that parents need in a hospital room but simply don't think to take with them...how would this amazing woman know...because her name is Lisa Hawk.  She is the mother of one of the sweetest children I have ever had the pleasure to meet.  Her little boy like my daughter had been diagnosed with Biliary Atresia and had a liver transplant...she was the face of Hope for us.

The basket had a special doll that made me cry...you see....I had never met Lisa prior to her visit...the only visitor we received in the hospital.  She brought a doll that had a little hospital gown and a scar across her belly - just like the scar I prayed my daughter would have a chance to wear one day...the scar of a liver transplant.  This doll sits in my daughter's room today...a doll with the scar that she is blessed to have.

In the basket there was also a CD with the cutest little girl on the cover of the CD.  Lisa explained to me that this precious little girl was Haley.  She is the daughter of her best friend, Cheryl.  She told me all about the amazing songs she wrote (including one about Aiden, Lisa's son) and the performances she did.  She told me about her bravery...and then she told me about her foundation.  Haley needed a liver transplant...Haley never received the transplant...she is now home in Heaven.

The Haley Vincent Foundation helps children...they do so through:

1. Miracle Mail - boxes (to home or hospital) for children with chronic illness.
2. Grief packages-  books and a remembrance angel to anyone who has lost a child.
3. Children's Hospital Of Atlanta – Haley’s birthday is celebrated by throwing a party each year for the in patient children.  Everyone leaves with a present. They also partner with pastoral care to give children gifts.

4. Ronald McDonald House in Tampa- An ornament decorating event is coordinated before Christmas each year for moms and dads to make their babies/children ornaments.

Future Programs include:
A college scholarship fund. It will be essay driven, with the topic being “Over coming Adversity.”
The Haley Vincent Music Therapy Program. This is my dream project, and I know it will happen in God’s perfect timing.

My husband and I placed Haley's CD in our car as we took our baby girl home from the hospital.  How we made it home I will never know because we were both in tears.  I heard her sing "Prednisone" a medicine my baby was on ... and all I could thing was "Thank You Haley for letting me know what Savvy is feeling.  Thank you for giving her the words that she can not speak herself".

As Haley's mom, I want to say a special thank you for sharing this with your readers. I am so very glad that Lisa walked into your room that day, and I am hoping that many more children and their families will be touched in the very same way.
